The personal touch
The very best way to support the Fairtrade campaign is the personal touch! Ask for Fairtrade products whenever you can, in shops, in supermarkets, in hotels and cafés, and anywhere else you can think of! We can supply you with 'Stock it!' postcards, printed by the Fairtrade Foundation, which you can leave in any of these places to say "Dear Store Manager, I would like to see more Fairtrade items in your shop."
You could also stock your own store cupboard with Fairtrade goods and serve them to family, friends and neighbours. Tell them about the wide range of Fairtrade goods available - now over 3,000 items from coffee and tea to wine and flowers, clothing and gifts, bananas and chocolate all carrying the Fairtrade mark - and tell them that these are not only top quality goods, they contribute to the health and life of thousands of small traders around the world.
Join us
The Borough of Scarborough Fairtrade Group is always happy to hear from volunteers who will help to spread the word about Fairtrade! We promise not to overwork you, and you will be doing your bit to provide sustainable aid to developing countries. Volunteers are always welcome to join the rota to help at our monthly Scarborough Town Centre Stall. Our Filey and Whitby area co-ordinators are also delighted to be alerted to willing supporters in their areas and ideally we need a network of contacts throughout our lage borough. Do please email us for more information and/or to be added to our contacts list, or just turn up at one of our quarterly meetings on the first Tuesday of December, March, June and September, in the coffee lounge of Westborough Methodist Church in Scarborough. We serve coffee and biscuits - Fairtrade, of course! - from 6.45pm and the meeting itself begins at 7.00pm. Membership is free, but we do hope that you might make a small annual donation (currently we recommend £10 for individuals and £20 for groups) to help us to continue the Fairtrade campaign throughout the Borough of Scarborough.
